UK Group Seeks to Stop David Oyedepo's 'Witchcraft Church' from Building School in Kent - BBC

Winners' Chapel International, a church currently being investigated by the Charity commission, seeks to open an independent school in Dartford, Kent.

The church has, in the past, been accused of linking poor discipline to witchcraft, BBC says.

There is a YouTube video of the church's founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, slapping a woman after accusing her of witchcraft. He has declined an interview from the BBC.

Bishop Oyedepo's son, David Oyedepo (Jnr), is the pastor at WCI's international headquarters in Dartford, where the church seeks to open a school for children aged four to seven. The school is to be named Kingdom Heritage Model School.

However groups like the National Secular Society (NSS) have kicked against this. Stephen Evans from the NSS has said that the Metropolitan Police, this year alone, had already investigated 27 child abuse cases perpetuated under the cloak of witchcraft. The group has noted that WCI links child 'disobedience' to witchcraft, citing the website of Davido Oyedepo Ministries, which states that "Disobedience is as terrible as witchcraft."

"There's a need to be vigilant and there's a need to tackle this," says Evans. "You don't do this by allowing organisations that believe in witchcraft and are associated with witch-hunting to open in the UK."

2Face Denies Reuniting With Kennis Music

Nigerian singer, 2Face known for his string of successful hit singles has made it clear that he has no plans whatsoever to neither reunite with his former record label, Kennis Music nor become an artiste under the label under which he released one of his biggest songs till date; 'African Queen.'

2Face pointed out that the only relationship he has with Kennis can be traced back to his first album with the label as a solo artiste.

In a recent interview, he said:
"I am still having a good romance with Kennis Music. It has been 10 years since the release of my first album as a solo artiste, and Kennis Music is planning a 10th anniversary of that album. The album has been re-mastered. That’s exactly what I am doing with Kennis music. So, it’s not about 2Baba joining Kennis Music as an artiste.”
How much do you think Kennis Music has to offer 2Face at this point in his career?

40 PDP SENATORS GET AUTOMATIC TICKET AHEAD OF 2015

President Goodluck Jonathan has finally agreed to allow the bulk of senators elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to be granted automatic tickets to contest in the 2015 elections.
Although details of how the arrangement would be worked out were not available, Sunday Vanguard gathered that the lawmakers and Jonathan agreed that at least 40 senators be given automatic ticket and allowed to return to the legislature if they win the election.

The president had met with PDP senators last Wednesday where the lawmakers allegedly tabled their grievances for Jonathan to address.
A source at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja told Sunday Vanguard that the senators initially requested that all of them be given right of refusal so that there won’t be rancour that usually trails party primaries.

However, it was pointed out that such an option may not be popular because some of the senators are not particularly sell-able to the electorate because of their abysmal performance.

The new agreement reached between PDP senators and Jonathan may pitch the president against some of the party’s governors who want to go to the Senate after their tenure next year.

GUY SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS IN PRISON FOR BEATING UP GIRLFRIEND

A violent thug who left his girlfriend with horrific facial injuries when she ended their relationship was today jailed for eight years.

Chantelle Ward was convinced her top lip had been taken off when Rhys Culley bit through it after he went to kiss her.

Culley, 23, was “jealous and insecure” about the pretty 18-year-old when he launched the prolonged assault as he was about to start working away.

Jurors saw disturbing images of teeth marks in Miss Ward's upper lip after the attack, during which he smeared her own blood around her face and forced his tongue in her mouth.
Culley, in a relationship with Miss Ward for more than two years, denied wounding with intent but was found guilty.

Recorder Caroline Wigin told the shop-fitter: "The relationship was about to have pressure placed on it because of your departure for a job in the Shetland Isles.

"You showed mounting and unwarranted jealousy towards Miss Ward, demanding to see messages on her phone and you then began to assault her.
"You slapped her, you threatened to hit her with a vodka bottle and chased her around the house, throwing her across the sofa.

"You punched her in the face.

"This part of the evening took approximately one hour and in my opinion formed part of a sustained assault on her.

You asked her if you were still in a relationship.
"On her answer you were no longer in a relationship you threw her on the bed and pinned her down.

"You lent down and bit sideways onto her top lip.

"I consider you have caused a very significant disfigurement to this young lady."
The court heard Miss Ward was left so traumatised after the attack she needed counselling and has been left with permanent scars.
